Un año más, las Oficinas Municipales de Tetuán se suman a la celebración del Día Internacional para la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer a través de distintas actividades, talleres de sensibilización y dinámicas grupales en las que participarán usuarias, usuarios y alumnado de cursos de castellano en las 2 oficinas.
La celebración de este día comenzó el 17 de diciembre de 1999, a través de la resolución 54/134 
, la Asamblea General ha declarado el 25 de noviembre como el Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer, y ha invitado a los gobiernos, las organizaciones internacionales y las organizaciones no gubernamentales a que organicen en ese día actividades dirigidas a sensibilizar a la opinión pública respecto al problema de la violencia contra la mujer.
Desde 1981, las militantes en favor del derecho de la mujer observan el 25 de noviembre como el día contra la violencia. La fecha fue elegida como conmemoración del brutal asesinato en 1960 de las tres hermanas Mirabal, activistas políticas de la República Dominicana, por orden del gobernante dominicano Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961).
El 20 de diciembre de 1993, la Asamblea General aprobó la Declaración sobre la eliminación de la violencia contra la mujer (A/RES/48/104 ).
