Ayer, la Oficina Municipal de Carabanchel en colaboración con el Servicio de Convivencia en Barrios se sumaron a la celebración del Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Discriminación Racial , a través de una taller de sensibilizan.

La actividad consistió en la recogía  de testimonios de personas que habían visto, sufrido u oído algún tópico racista, como modo de visualizar esta problemática y poner cuerpo y cara a quien vive esta situación frecuentemente. Una pequeña entrevista que recoja las DSC_0627experiencias personales en primera persona. Este proceso de recogida de testimonios se materializará  en una publicación colectiva; LA GUÍA Desmontando Tópicos Racistas. Un documento que reunirá recursos y herramientas, información teórica y práctica, testimonios de personas  el  argumentario elaborado colectivamente como respuesta a las situaciones de discriminación discursiva detectadas en el distrito.

Orígenes:

El 21 de marzo de 1960 la policía mató a 69 personas que participaban en una manifestación pacífica realizada en Sharpeville, Sudáfrica, para protestar contra las leyes de pases del apartheid, que impedían el libre movimiento por el territorio de la población de raza negra. La ONU eligió esta fecha para celebrar el Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Discriminación Racial, con el fin de combatir y erradicar el racismo, la discriminación racial, la xenofobia y todas las formas de intolerancia que se llevan a cabo en diferentes partes del mundo.

El racismo es un prejuicio aprendido; no se nace racista. De igual forma, nadie tiene derecho a discriminar a cualquier persona por el color de su piel, por su lengua o por su acento, por su lugar de nacimiento, por sus lícitos hábitos de vida, por sus orígenes y tradiciones o por su pobreza. La discriminación racial es una lacra que nos aqueja a todos, y está en nosotros ponerle término final.
